What is power quality?

Power quality refers to the overall quality of power supply, and the main indicators include frequency deviation, voltage deviation, voltage fluctuation and flicker, three-phase unbalance, temporary or transient overvoltage, waveform distortion (e.g., harmonics), voltage transient drops, voltage interruptions, voltage transient rises, and continuity of supply.

Ideally, the power system should provide a standard voltage at a constant frequency and sinusoidal waveform. However, in practice, power quality often fluctuates due to a variety of factors such as non-ideality of component parameters, random changes in loads, imperfections in the means of regulation, and faults and disturbances.

Weather conditions such as lightning strikes, storms, rain and snow can cause damage to power equipment, and these factors are often unpredictable. Therefore, regular inspections and maintenance are effective means of reducing losses.

Startup and shutdown of equipment can cause instantaneous changes in grid voltage and current. The tripping and reclosing operations of automatic switches can also cause voltage fluctuations, affecting power quality. Measures to improve power quality

Strengthen detection and management

Improve the detection and management level of the power system, install monitoring equipment, real-time monitoring of power status, regular inspection and maintenance to ensure the normal operation of the equipment, to avoid power quality problems caused by failures.

Reasonable use of control equipment

Such as reactive power compensation devices, harmonic filters and voltage regulators to reduce voltage fluctuations, flicker and harmonic problems.

Optimize power system design

 Improve the circuit design of each link of power generation, transmission, transformation and distribution to minimize power fluctuations.
