Transformer fire wire zero wire how to connect

Post Time: 2024-09-14 16:15:16

What are the fire and zero wires?

Zero wire: this is the wire that leads from the transformer and forms the circuit together with the fire wire. the voltage of the zero wire is basically 0 V. The zero wire is usually connected together with the ground wire to provide double protection.

Fire wire: This is the line responsible for transmitting electricity in the circuit, the voltage in China and most countries in Southeast Asia is generally 220V.

Ground: mainly used as a protection, can be introduced into the earth leakage current, to avoid electric shock.

How to connect the fire wire and zero wire in the transformer?

connect the fire wire and zero wire in the transformer

TN-S system: after the zero wire and transformer shell are connected, the ground wire is also connected together. There are two switches on the low voltage side of the transformer, the zero wire after the switch and the one before the switch is the ground wire (PE). The zero wire after the switch cannot be re-grounded, but the ground wire can be re-grounded.

TN-C system: The zero and ground wires are combined and called PEN wire. The equipment enclosure is connected to the PEN wire, and the PEN wire can be grounded repeatedly.

TN-C-S system: similar to the TN-C system, but where an additional zero wire is required, another zero wire (N wire) is drawn. The zero wire after the switch cannot be re-grounded, but the PEN wire can.

TT system: after the zero wire is grounded, the equipment side is re-grounded to connect the equipment enclosure to ground, and the zero wire cannot be re-grounded.

IT system: Zero wire is grounded through a resistor and does not lead to the zero wire. Re-grounding body on the equipment side, connect the equipment housing to ground.

Why are you electrocuted?

Electrocution circuit: Electrocution usually occurs when there is a voltage difference between the fire wire and the ground or the zero wire, for example, when a person touches the fire wire and the ground at the same time. A bird can’t be electrocuted because both of its feet are on the same wire and the voltage is equal.

To summarize: Knowing the difference between the fire and zero wires and the proper way to wire them can help you use electricity more safely.
